The IME graduate program greatly simplifies the application process of entering one of the top universities in the world, the University of Tokyo. Until the beginning until final acceptance, the staff at IME have been very helpful and understanding, significantly improving the experience.

Once in Japan, learning the language will be a considerable advantage, both in everyday life as well as in the lab. Such classes are readily available at the Faculty of Engineering so do take full advantage of it. Nonetheless, postgraduate classes are conducted in English as there are a large number of foreign students on campus.
My lab was located at JAXA Sagamihara campus, in the suburbs of Tokyo. This enabled me to take part in research projects and other JAXA related activities which involved other space agencies around the world.

All in all, the beauty of Japan lies not only in its picturesque landscapes and cities but in the people as well. Take the time to discover the country and you would be surprised!
